Africa is 15% of the world’s population but only 2% of clinical trials occur in Africa. Most clinical trials in Europe and North America fail to fully recruit in a timely manner delaying speed to market and reducing cost efficiencies. Clinical trials in Europe and North America fail to recruit sufficiently diverse populations into their trials.
Africa has one of the fastest growing populations in the world, and home to some of the fastest growing economies. As more Africans join the middle class, their demand for world class health care is rising.
Developing therapeutics that are proven to be safe and efficacious in Africans and people of African descent is critical for all therapeutics.
